The Iranian-born clarinetist Nadia Hashemi is a versatile musician whose artistry spans the Renaissance, Baroque, and Classical repertoire as well as experimental projects, contemporary music, and improvisation.
As a chamber musician, she performs regularly with her ensembles Trio MIYAN and Ensemble Musica Libera.
Alongside her chamber music career, she also appears with orchestras such as the Kölner Kammerorchester and teaches at the Music School of Hamm and the University of Cologne.
Her career began with the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra under Daniel Barenboim, followed by an internship with the Dortmunder Philharmoniker and a chamber music scholarship at the MMCJ Festival in Yokohama, Japan.
Passionate about contemporary music, she has played with Studio MusikFabrik, the European Workshop for Contemporary Music in Warsaw and Aroura Nr. π ensemble. Over the years she has premiered numerous works by emerging composers.
She studied in Berlin with Martin Spangenberg, Ralf Forster, and assistant teacher Jens Thoben before pursuing her master’s degree with Andreas Langenbuch in Düsseldorf. She is currently completing a second master’s degree in music education under Dr. Kerstin Weuthen in Düsseldorf.
